The Lucky Number 17 Raffle Rules


Good afternoon, and thanks for supporting The Shaler Villa Volunteer Fire Company by playing The Lucky Number 17 Raffle with us.  Please allow us to share some important details prior to starting the raffle.

  1.          The Lucky Number 17 Raffle consists of an individual game board and is a 50/40/10 progressive raffle. The winner will receive 50% of the prize pool (less weekly payouts).  40% of the total “Jackpot” will go to Shaler Villa Volunteer Fire Company (SVVFC). The last 10% rolls over into the startup of the next Lucky Number 17 Raffle game.  There is a winner each week.
  2.      Each week’s jackpot will be posted. The jackpot amount is the sum of all combined previous week’s game entry purchases.
  3. The Lucky Number 17 Payout amount will be the “Jackpot” amount less 50% and less weekly payouts.
  4. Ticket sales will begin after the live drawing, each Sunday and end at 4:00PM sharp, the following Sunday.
  5. A winning number will be drawn from the three-ball machine at 5:00 PM every Sunday and announced.  The sealed envelope number of choice by the winner drawn, will be opened by a SVVFC volunteer and the winner will be paid accordingly. The reveal of The Lucky Number 17 ends the game.
  6. Only “purchasers” holding a US Social Security Card may win any amount greater than $599. All persons winning at least $600 at one drawing must comply with IRS income tax reporting and complete IRS Form W4 before winnings are paid.
  7. If The Lucky Number 17 is chosen, the game ends. If not, that person will be paid the prize for the number tag drawn.
  8. When a game ends, the new Lucky Number 17 Raffle pot will start at 10% of the “Jackpot” amount upon reveal of the number 17.
  9. Players must be 21 years of age to participate.
  10. All raffle tickets are $5.00 per ticket. There is no limit on the number of tickets that may be purchased.
  11.  The total prize pool will continue to accumulate weekly. The prize pool amount is based on ticket sales, will be updated and prominently displayed.
  12.  Once an envelope is selected, it will be removed from play, opened and the number inside will be shown and displayed on the board. Each week after the drawing, all entries for that week’s drawing will be void. Entries purchased for that week will only be valid for that week’s drawing. All entries will be tracked and verified each week.
  13. The Lucky Number 17 Raffle game board will be locked at all times except for the drawing.
  14.  All winners are responsible for any and all taxes. A 1099 will be issued.

SELECTION PROCESS:


All entries receive a number. At the end of the week, the total number of entries are tallied and put into a numbered spreadsheet.  A random number will be selected through a three-ball machine lottery draw. The winning number will be between 000 and the total number of entries received. Whichever person correlates to the selected number is the winner.

WHAT IS THE LUCKY NUMBER 17 RAFFLE?

  • A game board containing Numbered Tiles from 1-50 within sealed envelopes.

  • The envelopes will be placed within a locked display case, only to be opened for the purpose of revealing the numbered tile within a selected envelope.

  • HOW DO YOU PLAY?
  • Chances to win are purchased online via our Shopify Store.  Your name and envelope number choice will be placed onto a numbered spreadsheet in the order that they are purchased.  Numbered placements start at 000 and go on until 9999.  If your name and corresponding number is drawn, the envelope number that you choose will be opened. If your name is drawn and the envelope opened is The Lucky Number 17, the PAYOUT AMOUNT will be awarded.

·        Chances to purchase will start on Sunday October 6, 2024.  Chances to purchase will STOP on Sunday October 13, 2024, at 4:00 PM.  A winner for the week will be selected on October 13, 2024, 5:00pm EST.

By now you may be asking yourself: How do I win and how much?

  1. The number tag selected by the person who won via the three-ball machine will pay-out as follows:
  • If your name and corresponding number is selected and the envelope opened is NOT The Lucky Number 17, the winner will receive the following bonus prize for their corresponding numbered tag:
  • Number 1 and Number 50 pays 10% of The Lucky Number 17 Payout Pot total (a minimum of $100.00 if total is less).
  • Numbers 10, 20, 30 and 40 pays 5% of The Lucky Number 17 Payout Pot total (a minimum of $100 if total is less).
  • Every other number, other than those mentioned above, pays $100.

Every week all the entries will be cleared from the database and NEW entries will be sold for the following week’s drawing. ENTRY CHANCES WILL NOT CARRYOVER FROM ONE WEEK’S DRAWING TO THE NEXT. A NEW ENTRY MUST BE PURCHASED FOR EACH WEEK’S DRAWING TO PARTICIPATE.

WHAT IF I WIN?

  • All WINNERS are responsible for paying the applicable taxes on any prize they win. All prizes will be paid by check within 30 days of the winner being determined.  All prizes over $600.00 SVVFC will issue the WINNER a W4, which will require the WINNER to provide his/her social security number. NO prize will be paid until the W4 information is provided. If a WINNER is unwilling to fill out a W4, the prize will revert to SVVFC. For prizes of $5,000.00 or greater, SVVFC is required to withhold the IRS backup withholding tax, currently set at 24% per IRS rules and regulations, and PA 5% backup withholding tax.
  • SVVFC reserves the right to require any WINNER to complete an affidavit of eligibility prior to payment of any prize.

To claim a winning prize, the purchaser must provide a valid government-issued identification.    

THE FINE PRINT

  • Each envelope opened will have the numbered tag inside it posted in its spot and will remain posted on the board for the duration of the game. Once “The Lucky Number 17” is selected, the board will no longer be in play and SVVFC will open the rest of the envelopes on a live video to legitimize the board.
  • You must be 21 years of age or older to play. If a WINNER is not 21 years of age or older the prize is forfeited and shall revert to SVVFC.
  • SVVFC reserves the right to list any WINNER on any subsequent advertising, into perpetuity, without compensation.
  • SVVFC reserves the right to discard any online purchase if it determines, in its sole discretion, that the purchase may have been affected by hacking, security breaches, bugs or any other type of online tampering. Such purchase may be discarded and ruled ineligible after a winning draw only upon good cause and within 48 hours of the drawing.
  • SVVFC reserves the right to make changes to the rules and regulations of “The Lucky Number 17 Raffle” where they deem necessary.
  • Any member that is in good standing of SVVFC is eligible to play.
  • This contest is only valid in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This contest is void where prohibited by law.
